Anchorage Digital Custody Powers Frgmnt’s fUSD and sfUSD Yield Access on Base

On Sept. 11, Frgmnt announced a partnership with Anchorage Digital, a federally chartered digital asset bank, to provide institutional clients with direct access to fUSD and sfUSD stablecoin yield infrastructure on the Base network. The announcement positions the collaboration as a bridge between institutional-grade custody and the growing on-chain stablecoin yield market.

Anchorage Digital, which holds a federal banking charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, will serve as the custody layer for institutional participants. The announcement emphasizes that this is not merely a listing or trading arrangement but a full-stack integration covering custody, settlement, and yield distribution.

fUSD and sfUSD are stablecoins operating on Base, Coinbase's Ethereum layer-2 network. While the announcement does not disclose specific yield rates, the underlying mechanics involve stablecoin holders earning yield through protocols integrated with Frgmnt's infrastructure. The "s" prefix in sfUSD typically denotes a staked or yield-bearing variant, suggesting that sfUSD represents the yield-generating version of the base fUSD asset.

The partnership's design suggests a focus on institutions that have already established relationships with Anchorage Digital, which counts a range of institutional clients across its custody and staking services. The ability to add stablecoin yield to existing custody relationships lowers the friction for adoption, as clients can extend their current mandates rather than establishing new vendor relationships.
